Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's most popular actors. Her fame is as a strong actress but equally at risk. Her father was a celebrated playwright. However, Linney was raised as an only child by a single mom, a nurse. In the summer, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Beginning her career at the Broadway shortly after her graduation, she made her debut in films within two years, and then on television following a year. Since then she's been in many film, TV as well as stage productions. She has been nominated for three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her professional career. While she has received numerous awards throughout her career, theatre has always been her first interest.
